There is an interesting talk where Stephen Wolfram explains his ideas 
very clearly at:

Unfortunately, it is in the Media Player format so I don't think it is 
possible to see it in Linux. And you need a fast internet connection.

Lee Felsenstein's talk about the Jhai PC is probably interesting too for 
most people here.
